Contains photocopied correspondence, diary entries from his mother (Leah T. Bastian), military documents, periodicals, map, and poetry. Also included are original and photocopied photographs, and one transcribed copy of an oral interview. Papers discuss combat in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. The bulk of the material deals with Bastian's capture during the Battle of the Bulge, his time as a POW at Stalag XII A in Limburg, Germany, and his successful escape during a prison transfer in 1945.
